Granny Aupair

Dear Ladies,

We are very pleased – the Granny Aupair community is growing continuously! All around the world families are looking for a loving temporary Granny to give them a hand. In order to make your search quickly lead you towards your dream destination, we want to give a few useful tips we have collected in our nearly nine years experience.
  1. The best thing is to let yourself be inspired by all offers! Do not pay too much attention to the individual country. Ultimately, the people you go to are more important.
  1. If you like the look of families but their entries, like length of stay and date of arrival do not match your wishes, send them a contact request anyway as often the families are looking for “follow-up” Grannies. Many things are negotiable and asking questions is free!

  2. As long as you can see the families’ profiles you can contact them, even if some of their entries seem out of date.

  3. When you have sent a contact request, you need a bit of patience. Often it takes a few days or even weeks until the families respond. The families are very busy or collect requests at first, before they answer.

  4. Search with heart and mind! Before accepting a family definitely, you should have talked about important details and requirements of your time as an au pair. Thus there will be no unwelcome surprises later on and both sides know what they are engaging in. Please keep in mind: The families are relying on you!

  5. Find detailed information about your country of destination and its people – especially if you are interested in exotic countries.

  6. Please remember that you are on a private trip as a Granny and are subject to the visa requirements of the respective countries.
The more flexible you are the quicker you can say: „I’m off”. Below we want to introduce you to two families from our long list of searching families.

Best regards from

your Michaela Hansen und your Granny Aupair-Team

In the Heart of Europe

With a vibrant culture, efficient organization and attractively set at the meeting of river and lake, Zürich is regularly seen as one of the world's most liveable cities. Switzerland's largest metropolis offers a whole range of sights, shopping experiences and culinary delights flanked by beautiful gardens and parks and the Uetliberg mountain. In the outskirts of the city a multilingual French-German family of three (user name qsoehnlein), with an 11-month-old daughter, who also speak a lot of English at home, are looking for a loving, life-experienced Granny Aupair as soon as possible. The little girl goes to the crèche until the afternoon, thus the Granny would have enough time to explore the lovely surroundings or visit a language course. A nice room with a beautiful view and private bath in a large apartment is being made available for the Granny. The travel costs will be taken over completely.

Island of the strong winds

In the northwest of the Canary Island Fuerteventura you can find Lajares, not far from the beautiful beaches of Cotillo and Majanicho and in the midst of a fascinating volcanic landscape. The lively village is an ideal starting point for walking and running, and offers countless cafes, bars and restaurants, as well as craft shops. Here, an international multilingual family (user name Casayoga) with a 6-year-old boy and a baby girl is looking for a family-friendly, animal-loving Granny Aupair as soon as possible, who can also bring some peace and quiet into the working life of the self-employed parents, preferably for three or more months. Various language courses are offered on site. A beautiful room in a large house with extensive garden and pool is waiting for the Granny. The travel expenses will be taken over in part.

Travelling tales Travellers love talking about their experiences as do our Granny Aupairs, like Granny Tina about her time in Melbourne:

I spent three months with a family with two girls, four and seven years old, in Melbourne.
I was "on the job" mondays to fridays and had the weekends to myself. The family enabled me to take a long weekend in Sydney. They let me join them on their Spring holiday in New South Wales for a week. The whole time was a fantastic experience! I do not regret a single day I spent here. I lived in a lovely big room and really felt as member of the family. The connection to the town is very good. And the city: Just a dream! Melbourne has not received the award World's most liveable city for nothing. Fantastic parks and museums, the Yarra River and a relaxed flair. I was able to undertake day trips with various bus companies for instance to the Great Ocean Road and to Philipp Island. Sometimes we took trips with the family at the weekend or went to a restaurant. The grandfather of the family showed me his favourite parts of the city in my free time. It was just a great time altogether!
